Box-Wine Blogging, Again

31 01 2010

Over at her place, Ann Althouse is up to her old tricks again, scrutinizing unflattering stills of President Obama and searching, desperately searching for Deep Meaning. This post, which concerns Obama’s hat tip to the First Lady during the State of the Union, is particularly fun, with Althouse first taking bizarre issue with Michelle Obama’s choice of signature crusade:

Let’s put to the side the fact that Michelle Obama has chosen — as her signature issue — telling us our kids are fat. (I mean, thanks a lot. Laura Bush was all about telling kids to read. Why did Michelle go with “you’re fat”?)

Yes, let’s put it aside.  Of course, this might have been phrased as “children’s health and well-being,” but then Ann wouldn’t be able to sharpen her sneer or mutter bitter nothings into her glass of white zinfandel.  It’s probably not worth pointing out that, along with children’s literacy, Laura Bush was also involved in women’s health issues.  I wonder why she chose to go with “Girl, Your Heart Sux”?

No matter, this leads to the even more bizarre assertion that somehow Obama’s simple (and well established) gesture was a “public charade” (no explanation, of course, what the charade involves precisely.  Fake children?  Fake obesity?) and that Michelle was the Mad at the president for calling her out in public. Next comes the inevitable examination of said still images, to which we will only rejoin:

Anyway, it all boils down to Obama is ascared of his Prissy Black Bitch Wife and bwahahaha why is he clapping like he just performed a special secret trick and, oh, who is that lady in the front row and why oh oh oh why is she giving Barry the “stinkeye”?  And then the comments start pouring in, and everything really goes to hell.

Blogging is a wonderful thing.  Nothing is this wonderful.

Inevitable

31 01 2010

We have bar none, the dumbest press in the free world. INEVITABLE! Really? Michael Steele? For President?

“Come on, don’t ask me that,” Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele said when presented with the inevitable question about his 2012 intentions and if his political aspirations included running for the White House next time around. [...]
